Liz Barton is a Partner and Head of Corporate, advising on all aspects of corporate and commercial law for businesses and their owners.
With over 20 years’ experience, Liz works with private businesses of all sizes and their shareholders, supporting clients through corporate transactions and day‑to‑day governance issues. She advises owner‑managed businesses, SMEs and growing companies on structuring, reorganising and evolving their businesses to meet both commercial objectives and legal requirements.Â
Liz is widely recognised for her expertise in company constitutions and corporate governance, group reorganisations, mergers, acquisitions and disposals, and secured lending. She also advises on shareholders’ agreements, management buy‑ins and buy‑outs, joint ventures and financing arrangements, and has particular experience supporting employee ownership transitions as part of the firm’s dedicated Employee Ownership Trust services team. Her advice is practical, commercially focused and tailored to the realities of her clients’ businesses.Â
Liz joined Doyle Clayton in 2017 to establish the firm’s corporate and commercial practice and works closely with colleagues across the firm to deliver joined‑up advice. She is known for building strong client relationships and for ensuring that transactions are structured with appropriate tax and accounting input from the outset.
