Online Tool for Calculating Entitlement to Maternity, Paternity and Shared Parental Leave
The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills has launched an online calculator which enables employees to work out if they qualify for maternity, paternity and shared parental leave and how much pay they can get if they take leave.
The calculator is available on the Gov.UK website.
Employees will need to have the following information to hand before using the tool:
- their employment status (eg employed or worker);
- the date they started their current job;
- the date they finished work (if they've finished);
- how much they earn;
- when they want their leave to start; and
- how much leave they want to take.
They will need the same information about their partner if they plan to take shared parental leave.
Employers may wish to refer employees to this calculator to help them make decisions about leave.
