Revised Acas Code of Practice on Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures Approved
Parliament has approved Acas’s revised code of practice on disciplinary and grievance procedures which contains amended sections dealing with the right to be accompanied at disciplinary and grievance hearings.
The amendments follow the EAT decision in Toal v GB Oils where the Employment Appeal Tribunal ruled that an employer cannot restrict an employee's choice of companion.
The new Code took effect on 11 March 2015 and can be viewed here.
Acas has also updated its non-statutory guidance.
